Step 1. Click the "Messages" icon on your Facebook homepage. The Messages icon lies in the top left corner and resembles 2 tiny overlapping speech bubbles.

Step 2. Click the discussion containing the message or messages you wish to remove. If it is not detailed on the initial Messages pop-up home window, click "See All" to view all of your exclusive messages. Click the discussion on that particular listing including the message you intend to erase.

Step 3. Click the "Actions" switch and then click "Delete Messages" on the Activities drop-down menu.

Step 4. Click the check boxes located beside the messages you wish to erase.

Click "Delete" and then click "Delete Messages" to confirm that you wish to erase the selected messages.

Idea
To remove an entire conversation instead of private messages, click "Delete Conversation" after clicking the Actions menu in the 3rd step.

Warning
Removing an exclusive message in your Messages inbox does not remove it from the inbox of your discussion partner.
